DURHAM – Head coach Chris Pollard and the Duke baseball program are excited to release their 2022 spring schedule, marking Pollard’s 10th season in Durham.
The Blue Devils once again feature a strong slate of opponents for 2022, including 11 2021 NCAA Tournament participants in Campbell, East Carolina, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Liberty, Miami, N.C. State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Presbyterian and Virginia.
Coming off the program’s first ACC Baseball Tournament Championship title, Duke opens the spring at home against Virginia Military Institute (Feb. 18-20) at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Blue Devils then travel to Waco, Texas to face Baylor (Feb. 25-27). Duke returns to the DBAP to host Bucknell March 4-6 to close out non-conference series.
In conference play, the Blue Devils will host Virginia (March 11-13), North Carolina (March 18-20) and Miami (April 1-3) at the DBAP. The series against Notre Dame (April 15-17) and N.C. State (May 13-15) will be played at Jack Coombs Field on Duke’s campus.
Duke will travel to Florida State (March 25-27), Wake Forest (April 8-10), Georgia Tech (April 22-24), Pittsburgh (May 6-8) and Virginia Tech (May 19-21).
In nonconference action, Duke hosts matchups against Appalachian State (Feb. 22), East Carolina (March 1), UMass Lowell (March 8-9), West Virginia (March 15), William & Mary (March 22), Presbyterian (March 23), Liberty (March 29), Davidson (April 5 and May 17), Longwood (April 6) and Campbell (April 12), while also welcoming High Point to Jack Coombs for a Sunday doubleheader May 1 following the university’s exam week.
The Blue Devil’s nonconference road schedule sends the squad to Liberty (April 19), Campbell (May 3) and East Carolina (May 10).
After five Blue Devils were selected in the 2021 MLB Draft, Duke returns three starting position players, including All-ACC outfielder RJ Schreck.
Sixteen players have joined the Blue Devil rankings for this upcoming season, including 12 freshmen and four transfers in David Dunn (Northwestern), Ben LaSpaluto (Gardner-Webb), Trevor Johnson (Dartmouth) and John Natoli (Cornell).
