NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Iona College Director of Athletics Matthew Glovaski announced the appointment of Conor Burke as head coach of the Iona baseball program. Burke, a Long Island native, joins the Maroon & Gold after most recently serving as an assistant coach at the Ivy League’s Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.

“I am excited to welcome Coach Burke to the Iona family,” said Glovaski. “Conor was impressive throughout the search process, and it is clear Iona is a special place to him. We look forward to his leadership and vision for the future of the baseball program.”

Burke spent the last two years at Dartmouth, where he served as the recruiting coordinator and was primarily responsible for working with hitters and outfielders.

“I am thrilled and honored to be the head baseball coach at Iona,” said Burke. “I am very thankful to Matt and Tom Moran (Senior Associate AD) for trusting me to lead this program. The opportunity to come back home to New York and coach at an academic institution that is aligned with the values and morals I was raised with is incredibly exciting. I can’t wait to hit the ground running and get to work. Go Gaels!”

Prior to his time with the Big Green, Conor spent four years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Maine in the America East Conference. Burke coached two 2018 draft picks with the Black Bears: Jeremy Pena, a third-round selection by the Houston Astros, and Chris Bec, a fifth-round selection by the Toronto Blue Jays.

Conor’s college coaching resume also includes time with Adelphi University, Concordia College and Queens College. In addition to his roles as a collegiate coach, Burke was the national recruiting coordinator for the Bayside Yankees, an elite travel baseball program based out of New York City.

Conor is a 2012 graduate of Queens College (N.Y.) with a degree in Media Studies. He served as captain of the Knights baseball team as a senior. Prior to enrolling at Queens, he captained Suffolk Community College to an appearance in the NJCAA Word Series. Conor and his wife Darlene have a son Dallas, and a daughter, Paisley.
