It’s very rare when you watch a player for the first time and instantly know he’s going to be a stud, but that’s the experience I had with Georiga pitcher Emerson Hancock.
I’ll never forget seeing the former 38th round MLB Draft pick in 2017 carve up an Alabama lineup in his freshman season with electric stuff.
In that freshman season he posted a 5.10 ERA in 77.2 innings with 75 strikeouts and a BAA of .242.
This past season he put it all together and posted a 1.99 ERA in 90.1 innings with 97 strikeouts to just 18 walks and a BAA of .185.
The 6-foot-4 righty has an electric fastball that sits in the mid-to-upper 90s and his best of three secondary pitches is his slider that has great break on it.
With the stuff and command that he showed as a sophomore at Georgia, it’s no wonder why he’s likely to be the first pitcher taken in the upcoming draft.
