We’ve had a college catcher taken in the top two of the last two MLB Drafts, and if that’s going to happen in 2020 it will likely be up to NC State catcher Patrick Bailey.
He was taken by the Minnesota Twins in the 37th round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
In 2018 as a freshman with the Wolfpack he hit .321 with 45 runs scored, 8 doubles, 13 home runs, and 40 RBI in 54 games.
That summer he hit played just 8 games in the Cape Cod League and hit .235/.350 with a home run.
This past season at NC State he hit .288 with 50 runs scored, 17 doubles, 10 home runs, and 4 RBI in 60 games.
In the summer he played 6 games in the Coastal Plain League and also spent time with the USA Collegiate National team.
If teams believe he can stick behind the plate, and there’s no reason to think he can’t, he’ll be a top 10 pick in the 2020 draft
