Surprisingly we only have one Florida State player in the top 50 and that’s pitcher C.J. Van Eyk at 13.
In 2017 he was taken in the 19th round by the New York Mets but went to FSU instead.
As a freshman he went 7-0 with a 2.86 ERA in 56.2 innings with 71 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.27.
This past season he struck out an incredible 129 batters in 99.1 innings with a 3.81 ERA and a WHIP of 1.31 in 18 starts.
He has a sneaky good fastball that sits in the mid-90s and gets on hitters quick. And I really like his change-up that his displays in the video above. But most scouts believe his best secondary pitch is his big, breaking curveball.
Van Eyk already has elite command of three pitches, which is what makes him such a prized draft prospect.
