The big 6-foot-7 righty from Florida, Tommy Mace, comes in at 17 on our list.
In 2017 he was taken in the 12th round of the MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds.
In his freshman season with the Gators he went 5-0 with a 4.16 ERA in 62.2 innings with 45 strikeouts and a 1.24 WHIP.
That summer he posted a 5.87 ERA in 15.1 innings with 9 strikeouts in the Cape Cod League.
As a sophomore in 2019 he went 8-5 with a 5.32 ERA in 89.2 innings with 74 strikeouts and a 1.44 WHIP.
Obviously the numbers from Mace don’t jump out to you, but it’s the projectability he possesses that makes him such an interesting prospect.
Perhaps 2020 is the season that he finally puts it all together and has the numbers to back up his elite stuff.
