Baylor had a top 10 pick in the 2019 MLB Draft in catcher Shea Langeliers, they could have another first-round pick in 2020 with shortstop Nick Loftin.

Loftin hit .306/.370 as a freshman in 2018 with 52 runs scored, 12 doubles, 6 home runs, and 36 RBI.

That summer he hit .253/.311 with 30 runs scored, 10 doubles, 2 home runs, 26 RBI, and 13 stolen bases in 198 at-bats in the Northwoods League.

As a sophomore he hit .331/.391 with 59 runs scored, 20 doubles, 6 home runs, and 43 RBI in 236 at-bats.

This past summer he spent time with the USA Collegiate National team.

Despite a long swing, Loftin has struck out just 37 times in 458 collegiate at-bats, but he doesn’t walk much either with 40 walks.

He’s a very toolsy middle infield prospect with a very high hit tool that will be very attractive to MLB scouts.
