As we enter the top 25 of our countdown we go to South Carolina and feature right-handed pitcher Carmen Mlodzinski.
It’s been a rocky start to his college career for the big 6-foot-2, 232 pound righty.
In his freshman season in 2018 he posted a 5.52 ERA in 45.2 innings making 7 starts and 12 relief appearances striking out 43 batters but issuing 21 walks.
He only made 3 starts in 2019 before breaking his foot and missing the rest of the season, and he wasn’t great in those three starts giving up 7 earned runs on 13 hits and 11 walks in 10.2 innings with 11 strikeouts.
But he showed what he’s capable of in the Cape Cod League this past summer posting a 1.83 ERA in 7 starts with 43 strikeouts in 34.1 innings only allowing 20 hits and 5 walks.
He throws four pitches with a fastball sitting in the mid-90s and his best secondary offering being a slider.
If he can stay healthy and show the command in his redshirt sophomore season that he showed this past summer, then he’ll be worth of this ranking and may even be too low.
