WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Hartford baseball team and head coach Justin Blood has announced the schedule for the 2020 season.
“We have been able to put together another challenging schedule for 2020,” commented Blood. “We’re excited to start the year down at Stetson where we ended our historic 2018 season. We’re very excited to be back at Dunkin Donuts Park for a total of five games this spring including a doubleheader versus UMBC, which will be our first America East contests in our home away from home.”
The Hawks will open the 2020 campaign with 10 consecutive road games, beginning with a three-game trip to Stetson (Feb. 21-23). Hartford will stay in the Sunshine State with a three-game series against North Florida (Feb. 28-Mar. 1) before traveling to face Central Connecticut (March 3). A stop at The Citadel (Mar. 6-8) rounds out its season-opening road trip.
Hartford opens its home schedule with a single game against UConn on March 10, at Fiondella Field. The Huskies posted 37 wins en-route to an appearance in the NCAA Conway Regional Final, where they were one game away from the Super Regional.
The Hawks will also face in-state rivals Yale (March 25), Sacred Heart (March 31), Fairfield (April 29) and Quinnipiac (April 7, April 21) in non-conference play, as well as regional foes Northeastern (March 11, Apr. 17-19), Bryant (March 18), Boston College (April 14), Holy Cross (April 22), URI (April 15) and UMass (April 28). Additionally, Hartford will travel to Greensboro, N.C. to take on UNC Greensboro in a three-game weekend series (March 20-22).
Hartford’s in-conference slate features home series against Stony Brook (March 14-15), followed by UMBC (April 4-5), UAlbany (April 25-26) and Binghamton (May 9-10). The Hawks will also have conference road series against Binghamton (March 28-29), UMass Lowell (April 10-11), and Maine (May 2-3), before closing out the regular season at Stony Brook (May 15-16).
The Hawks’ 2020 campaign features five games at Dunkin’ Donuts Park in downtown Hartford. Hartford will play a doubleheader against UMBC (April 4) in the first America East contest to be played at the stadium. The team will also battle with Fairfield (April 29), Army (May 5) and Siena (May 13) at Dunkin’ Donuts Park this season.
The America East Tournament will be held at UMass Lowell and is scheduled for May 19-24. It will be the first time since the 2017 season and sixth time overall that the River Hawks have hosted the postseason tournament.
