The Holy Cross baseball team has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2020 season, featuring an opening weekend against an SEC opponent, a trip to California, contests against some of the top teams in the Northeast and a 25-game Patriot League slate.
“Once again, our 2020 schedule demonstrates our willingness to compete against some of the very best colleges and universities in the country,” said head coach Greg DiCenzo. “Utilizing our first 19 games prior to the start of conference play, we anticipate significant challenges that will replicate the dynamics of both Patriot League and postseason competition.”
Holy Cross will open the season with a trip to South Carolina, which has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances since 2010, for a three-game series on Feb. 14, 15 and 16. The next weekend, the Crusaders head to Norfolk, Virginia to take on Old Dominion on Feb. 21, 22 and 23.
The Crusaders kick off their spring break trip on Feb. 29 with a four-game series at Cal State Bakersfield. Holy Cross will then head south to UC Riverside for a four-game slate beginning on March 5.
Upon the team’s return to the Northeast, the Crusaders will visit Boston College on March 10, followed by games against Brown on March 14 and 15.
The Crusaders are scheduled to begin their home slate at Fitton Field on March 18 against UMass Lowell. Patriot League play will commence at defending Patriot League champion Army on March 21 and 22 before Holy Cross hosts defending Ivy League champion Harvard on March 24.
Holy Cross opens home Patriot League play on April 4 against 2019 conference regular-season champion Navy. Other highlights in April include a home game against Rhode Island (April 8), a trip to UMass Amherst (April 21), a home contest vs. Hartford (April 22) and a visit to Marist (April 29).
