Who can forget the exciting postseason from Vanderbilt freshman Kumar Rocker in 2019? The only problem for Rocker is it will be difficult to produce an encore performance.
This past season he posted a 3.25 ERA in 99.2 innings with 114 strikeouts while leading Vanderbilt to a National Championship.
Those numbers were good enough for him to be named the D1Baseball.com and Baseball America Freshman of the Year.
And he was the College World Series Most Outstanding Player posting a 1.46 ERA in the tournament, striking out 11 Michigan batters in his CWS final start.
If that wasn’t enough, he tossed a no-hitter against Duke in the Super Regionals.
Down the stretch, he posted a 2.17 ERA in his last 11 starts winning 10 of those games and striking out 82 batters in 70.2 innings.
The natural talent speaks for itself. But it’s also the excitment that he pitches with that makes him such a fun player to watch. I won’t be missing a Kumar Rocker start in 2020.
