Miami right-handed pitcher Slade Cecconi was taken in the 38th round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles. Now he comes in at 36 on our Top 100 countdown of the best college players.
In his freshman season with the Hurricanes he had a 4.16 ERA in 80 innings with 89 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.21.
The numbers were good enough for him to be named to the Freshman All-American team by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
Cecconi will look to lead the Miami rotation in 2020 after a great fall where he threw four shutout innings in the Orange and Green World Series.
