There might not be anyone in the country who made bigger strides from their freshman to sophomore season than Missouri right-handed pitcher Ian Bedell.

As a freshman he posted a 6.17 ERA in 11.2 innings with 13 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.54.

He didn’t have a great summer either with a 5.09 ERA in 17.2 innings with just 8 strikeouts and more walks (9) with a WHIP of 1.98.

But then things turned around in 2019 with a 1.56 ERA in 40 innings with 36 strikeouts, a WHIP of 0.99, and 5 saves.

Bedell backed it up in the summer with a 0.59 ERA in the Cape Cod League making 6 starts and striking out 36 batters in 30.2 innings with just 3 walks.

After being one of the top bullpen arms in the country in 2019, it looks like Bedell will now try to boost the starting rotation for Missouri in 2020.

If he continues the path he’s been on, we could be looking at one of the best right-handed starters in the country this season.
