We go back to the MAC for number 48 with Central Michigan’s Zavier Warren.
He’s listed as a catcher and shortstop, which probably says more about his arm than anything. But he’s the primary shortstop for Central Michigan.
In 2018 he hit .277 with 36 runs scored in 52 games. That summer he hit .256 in the Perfect Game League with 13 runs scored in 28 games.
He blew up as a sophomore with CMU hitting .369 with 73 runs scored, 23 doubles, 8 home runs, 70 RBI, 14 stolen bases, and a .502 OBP … wow.
He followed that up in the Cape Code League this past summer hitting .315 with a .396 OBP to go along with 19 runs scored, 8 doubles, 3 home runs, and 24 RBI in 42 games.
Warren is a very exciting prospect with a lot of athleticism — and it doesn’t hurt that he’s a switch hitter.
Look for him to be one of the best shortstops available in the 2020 MLB Draft class.
