Vanderbilt just continues producing high-quality pitchers, and Tyler Brown is just the next in line.
He was taken pretty high in the 2017 MLB Draft as the Reds snatched him in the 26th round, but that still wasn’t enough to take him away from college.
As a freshman, Brown struggled to the tune of a 6.03 ERA in 37 innings with 41 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.42.
But he bounced back in 2019 working strictly out of the bullpen with a 2.59 ERA in 41.2 innings with 58 strikeouts, a WHIP of 0.94, and 14 saves as he helped lead the Commodores to a College World Series title.
It sounds like Brown will stay in the bullpen for Vanderbilt in 2020, making him the top closer in the country.
