Arizona State has had somewhat of an emergence in baseball the past couple of years, and they hope that trend continues in 2020 with right-handed pitcher RJ Dabovich being a big part of the starting rotation.
Dabovich started his college career at Central Arizona College where he posted a 1.81 ERA in 69.2 innings with 63 strikeouts and a WHP of 1.18.
His first dose of Pac-12 baseball brought him down to Earth a little has hit ERA was 4.75 in 53 innings with 47 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.53. However, he did have a sparkling 7-1 record and 3 saves making 9 starts and 7 appearances out of the bullpen.
He went to the Cape Cod League this past summer and proved that he can hang with the best by posted a 3.32 ERA in 19 innings (7 games, 4 starts) with 29 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.11.
Now that he’s adjusted to Division 1 hitters, I’m expected Dabovich to have a big junior season for the Sun Devils.
