WACO, Texas– Baylor baseball announced its 2020 schedule on Thursday. The 52-game slate, in the fifth year of Steve Rodriguez’s tenure, features 32 home games and 17 games against eight different opponents who advanced to the 2019 NCAA postseason.
Highlights for the 2020 slate include a strong nonconference schedule, including home weekends against Power 5 opponent Nebraska to open the season, followed by a home weekend against a strong Oral Roberts side, the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children College Classic in Houston and a trip out to California to play Cal Poly.
The Bears host big conference weekends against Kansas, Texas Tech, TCU and Oklahoma State.
After eight-straight home games to open up the season, the Bears head to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children College Classic in Houston for a Big 12 vs. SEC challenge (Feb. 28-March 1). The Bears will face Missouri, LSU and Arkansas in the annual tournament.
Following the Shriner’s tournament, the Bears return home for a midweek vs. Texas State (March 3) before traveling to California for a three-game return trip at Cal Poly (March 6-8).
The Bears then return home to host five-straight contests, including their final nonconference weekend vs. Grand Canyon (March 13-15).
The Bears will open up Big 12 play March 20-22 at Kansas State, before returning for five straight at home including a conference series vs. Kansas (March 27-29).
Back to the road the Bears go for a four-game road swing, starting off with a Tuesday contest at NCAA Tournament participant Dallas Baptist (March 31) before heading to Norman for three with the Sooners (April 3-5).
The Bears host Sam Houston State for a midweek (April 7) before heading down I35 to Austin for a three-game set with the Longhorns (April 9-11).
The Bears have their final long homestand of the season as they return to Baylor Ballpark for nine-straight games, hosting McNeese State on April 14, a three-game series with Texas Tech (April 17-19), a midweek vs. Stephen F. Austin (April 21), a conference series with TCU (April 24-26) and the final home midweek of the year vs. Lamar (April 28).
The final Big 12 road series of the year is at West Virginia (May 1-3) and the final road midweek is at Sam Houston State on May 12.
The Bears close out the regular season at home vs. Oklahoma State (May 14-16).
The Big 12 Tournament will once again be in Oklahoma City at Bricktown Ballpark, May 20-24.
NCAA Regionals will be May 29-June 1 at various school sites.
