Miami (OH) releases 2020 Schedule

OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University baseball head coach Danny Hayden revealed the RedHawks’ 2020 schedule on Thursday. The 56-game slate features an impressive 29 games at McKie Field at Hayden Park.

Miami opens the season as it travels down to Texas A&M (Feb. 14-16) for a three-game series. The Aggies return 22 letterwinners from a squad that went 39-23-1 last season and will likely be ranked in the preseason top 25.

The RedHawks will have their earliest home opening series in program history when Purdue Fort Wayne (Feb. 21-23) comes to town. After a midweek game at Dayton (Feb. 25), the month concludes with a trip down to UAB (Feb. 28-March 1) for a weekend set.

A midweek game against Wright State (March 3) is followed by a four-game home series with Milwaukee (March 6-8) that will feature a doubleheader on March 7. Miami returns the trip to Wright State (March 10) the following week for its midweek contest and then has four straight home games against Big Ten opponents, starting with as series against Penn State (March 12-14) and a midweek contest against Illinois (March 18).

Mid-American Conference play begins on the road as the RedHawks will be the first team to face Akron (March 20-22) in its return to the league after a five-year absence. After midweek games at Xavier (March 24) and Cincinnati (March 25), Miami has a unique opportunity to travel to Air Force (March 27-29) for a three-game series against the Falcons in Colorado Springs.

The RedHawks will have a busy month at McKie Field that begins with a game against Indiana State (March 31). Ohio (April 3-5) comes to town as MAC play begins in earnest. After a home midweek against Cincinnati (April 7), the ‘Hawks take an Easter Weekend trip to Western Michigan (April 10-12).

The 12th annual Nuxhall Classic will be in Oxford this season. On Tuesday, April 14 the tournament will open with Cincinnati vs. Wright State. The three-time defending champion RedHawks will then take on Xavier in their first round game. The championship and consolation games will be the following day (April 15) with Miami participating in the second game.

The home stretch continues with a three-game slate against Bowling Green (April 17-19). After a midweek home match against Eastern Kentucky (April 22), Kent State (April 24-26) comes to town. The month concludes with a midweek game at Ohio State (April 29).

May will feature the RedHawks mostly on the road, beginning with a trip to Northern Illinois (May 1-3). After a midweek, non-conference game at Bowling Green (May 6), the final two conference weekends will be home against Toledo (May 8-10) and at Ball State (May 14-16).

The top six teams in the MAC will qualify for the conference tournament, which takes place May 20-24 at Sprenger Stadium in Avon, Ohio.
