WASHINGTON – GW baseball head coach Gregg Ritchie announced the schedule for the team’s 2020 campaign, his eighth in charge of his alma mater.

The majority of the Colonials’ home slate comes in the season’s first seven weeks with 24 of the 27 home games taking place in February or March. GW will host four straight weekend series in March, and seven overall during the season.

The Colonials begin the year with a tournament at Nicholls State in Thibodaux, La., opening the season against SIUE on Feb. 14 and 15 before facing the host Colonels on Feb. 16 to close out the weekend. A seven-game homestand follows with the home opener set for Feb. 18 against Georgetown.

GW will host three non-conference series this season, welcoming Marist (Feb. 21-23), Monmouth (March 6-8) and NJIT (March 13-15) to the Tuck. GW will make non-conference weekend trips to Tennessee (Feb. 28 – March 1), the first SEC foe on the docket since 2017, and ETSU (April 10-12).

Conference play features four home weekends and four road series, starting March 20-22 when Saint Louis comes to town. VCU visits the following week (March 27-29), while Richmond (April 24-26) and George Mason (May 8-10) also pay a visit. GW will travel to La Salle (April 3-5), Fordham (April 17-19), Rhode Island (May 1-3) and Davidson (May 14-16).

In mid-week action, the Buff & Blue will participate in home-and-home series with Georgetown (Feb. 18/April 15), UMBC (Feb. 25/March 18), Coppin State (Feb. 26/March 25), William & Mary (March 3/March 17), Towson (March 10/April 7) and Mount St. Mary’s (March 24/April 21). Additionally, the Colonials will play single games at Virginia (April 22) and Penn (April 28).

The A-10 tournament is scheduled for May 19-23 in Richmond, Va., hosted by VCU at The Diamond. The Colonials will be looking to return to the tournament for the fifth time in six years following a 30-win campaign in 2019.
