MILWAUKEE, Wis. – After 26 years at Henry Aaron Field, the Milwaukee baseball team is set to host 20 home contests at a new ballpark – Milkmen Field in Franklin, Wis. – in 2020. The Panthers open the season with several road trips before returning to the Midwest as head coach Scott Doffek announced the full schedule today.
“We feel like we have put together another extremely challenging schedule,” head coach Scott Doffek commented. “It will be a great opportunity to get a somewhat inexperienced team acclimated to the speed of the game and what is expected. Our league is always a fight and the more we can challenge them, the better. Also, we are super excited to get into our new home facility and showcase the program in a first-class way.”
The Panthers open the year with a trip to North Carolina in mid-February to take on Seton Hall and Wake Forest, a program first for both.
That following weekend, Milwaukee travels west for a four-game series at Sacramento State, the 2019 Western Athletic Conference Champions, before heading up the coast for first-ever series at Oregon to wrap up the February slate.
After a four-game set at Miami of Ohio, the Panthers dive into the Horizon League schedule with a trip to Wright State on March 13-15.
Milwaukee will once again battle a collection of Big Ten opponents, starting with a mid-week battle at Purdue on March 17.
On March 20, the Panthers will begin a new begin a new era at Milkmen Field, hosting a three-game series against Youngstown State.
The next five games, Milwaukee will be on the road including matchups against Iowa and Northern Illinois around a series at Oakland.
The Panthers will get a full dose of home cooking in April and May as 17 of the team’s final 29 games will be at the new park. Within that stretch, Milwaukee has four home Horizon League series and non-conference contests against Valparaiso, Edgewood, Minnesota, Northwestern, Parkside, and Purdue.
On May 14-16, Milwaukee will wrap up regular season play at Youngstown State before the Horizon League Tournament begins on May 20.
The Panthers will have their first opportunity for competition at Milkmen Field on Friday, October 18 with a scrimmage against Madison College.
