DURHAM, N.C. – Head coach Chris Pollard and the Duke baseball program are excited to release their 2020 spring schedule, marking Pollard’s eighth season in Durham.
The Blue Devils once again face an exciting slate as the 2020 schedule features 23 games against 2019 NCAA Tournament participants, including matchups against Army West Point, Campbell, Clemson, East Carolina, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina and NC State.
Coming off the program’s second consecutive and second-ever NCAA Super Regional appearance, Duke opens the spring at home against Army West Point at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Blue Devils then host Cornell (Feb. 21-23) before traveling to Minneapolis, Minn., the following weekend to take part in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, which will be hosted at U.S. Bank Stadium. Duke will open the weekend with Purdue, before facing Minnesota and Iowa to conclude the weekend.
Following its trip to Minnesota, Duke welcomes 2019 College World Series participant Florida State to the DBAP for its home ACC opener March 6-8. The Blue Devils then host rival North Carolina for the second weekend of conference slate in another edition of the Tobacco Road Rivalry. Duke’s remaining home conference schedule includes series against Miami (March 27-29) and Clemson (April 17-19) at the DBAP, and a three-game set against Virginia (April 24-26) at Jack Coombs Field.
The Blue Devils travel to Atlanta, Ga., for their first road matchup at Georgia Tech March 20-22. Duke is also set for league series at NC State (April 3-5), Virginia Tech (April 10-12), Wake Forest (May 8-10) and Pittsburgh (May 14-16).
In nonconference action, Duke hosts matchups against William & Mary (Feb. 18), Air Force (Feb. 24), Campbell (March 4), Davidson (March 10), Columbia (March 17-18), Presbyterian (March 25), NC Central (April 1, April 21), Tennessee Tech (April 14-15) and Richmond (May 12), while also welcoming Gardner Webb to Jack Coombs for a Sunday doubleheader May 3 following the university’s exam week.
The Blue Devil’s nonconference road schedule sends the squad to Davidson (March 31), East Carolina (April 7) and Campbell (May 5).
After four Blue Devils began their professional careers and six graduated this past spring, Duke returns seven starting position players, including consensus Freshman All-American Ethan Murray and standout pitcher Bryce Jarvis.
Twelve players have joined the Blue Devil rankings for this upcoming season, including 11 freshmen and one transfer in Luke Hartman from Bucknell.
