ELKVILLE, Ill. – The Prospect League announced its 2019 Postseason All-Stars and award winners Friday morning. The all-star teams and awards were voting on by the league’s 12 field managers.
The Chillicothe Paints and Cape Catfish, the East and West Division Champions, led all teams with seven all-star selections each. Five Quincy Gems, four Danville Dans, two from the DuPage Pistol Shrimp and Champion City Kings and one-each from the Lafayette Aviators, Terre Haute REX and Springfield Sliders were named postseason all-stars.

The Starting Pitcher of the Year is Bryan McNeely from the Cape Catfish. McNeely, from Southeast Missouri State University, led Prospect League pitchers with the qualifying number of innings with a 2.39 ERA and went 6-1 in 10 appearance, nine of which were starts. The Scott City, Mo., native allowed just 15 earned run on 47 hits, walking six and striking out 33 over 56 1/3 innings during the regular season. In the West Division Championship Game, McNeely seven shutout innings, allowing four hits and striking out four in Cape’s 5-2 win.
The Galen Woods Fireman of the Year, given to the league’s top reliever each season, is the Chillicothe Paints’ Nate Haugh. From the University of Toledo, Haugh led the Prospect League with 13 saves during the regular season and earned the save in the East Division Championship Game and the final game of the Prospect League Championship Series. The Waterville, Ohio, native appeared in 23 games for the Paints, allowing six runs on 19 hits, striking out 48 and walking eight over 29 2/3 innings. Haugh didn’t allow a run in his final 13 appearances in the regular season. He threw four perfect innings throughout two playoff games, including the final three innings of the season, he struck out 10 of the 12 batters he faced in the playoffs.
The 2019 Mike Schmidt Player of the Year & Roland Hemond Pro Prospect of the Year is Cape’s Andrew Stone, from West Virginia State University. An outfielder from Cross Lanes, W.Va., Stone collected 86 hits, stole 33 bases and scored 66 runs, all league highs. He ranked second in in the league with a .397 batting average and with 16 home runs. Stone played in 57 games, tied for fifth-most in the league and his 49 RBIs ranked sixth.
The 2019 Prospect League Manager of the Year is Cape’s Steve Larkin, who guided the first-year Catfish to a 43-17 regular-season record, a West Division Championship and to within one win of a league championship. The 43 wins is tied for the Prospect League record. The Catfish led the league with an .896 OPS and ranked second with a .295 batting average. Cape had the West Division’s top pitching staff and third-best in the league with a 4.36 ERA and no team played better defense, as the Catfish finished with a .974 fielding percentage.
