CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi head coach Scott Malone has announced the addition of Seth LaRue as assistant coach for the Islanders 2019-20 staff.

Prior to arriving on the Island, LaRue spent three seasons at Southern Illinois University as the assistant coach. With the Salukis, he was responsible for hitting, base running and in-game offense. In three seasons, SIU stole 375 bases, the fourth most among all Division I teams in that span. The 144 stolen bases in 2019 set a school record, led the Missouri Valley Conference and was ranked fifth nationally. Three players Nick Hutchins, Connor Kopach and Greg Lambert were taken in the MLB Draft during his tenure. The Salukis led the MVC in stolen bases all three seasons he was in Carbondale.

In 2016, LaRue was the graduate assistant for the Campbell University baseball team and helped run day-to-day operations for the program. He also assisted with the team’s summer camps.

LaRue earned his bachelors and masters degrees from Campbell University where he played two seasons after transferring from Olney Central College. In 2014, Campbell captured the 2014 Big South Conference championship.
