Indiana State names Brad Vanderglas as Assistant Coach

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Head Coach Mitch Hannahs announced Wednesday that Brad Vanderglas has been elevated to Assistant Coach.

Vanderglas joined the Sycamore baseball staff in 2017 as a volunteer assistant. Over his three years as a volunteer assistant Vanderglas worked primarily with outfielders and catchers while also organizing camps, creating practice schedules and scouting opponents. He also coordinated travel that included hotels, buses and meals.

Vanderglas played a key role in the 2019 campaign in which the Sycamores finished the season 43-18, including a 15-2 mark at home en route to the programs 10th NCAA Regional appearance after claiming the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Championship. ISU won two games in the Nashville Regional, hosted by No. 2 overall seed and eventual National Champion Vanderbilt.

Prior to his time in Terre Haute, Vanderglas spent three years at Lincoln Trail College in Illinois as Associate Head Coach and the team’s Recruiting Coordinator. At Lincoln Trail, Vanderglas picked up commitments from several high-profile student-athletes including Jordan Brewer who went on to earn 2019 Big 10 Player of the Year honors and was drafted in the third round of the MLB Draft. Raul Hernandez who was the GRAC Player of the Year in 2017 as well as Eli Boggess who finished second in Division I in batting average in 2017 at Morehead State.

Prior to coaching, Vanderglas played four seasons at Northern Kentucky. He made 148 starts for the Norse over his career. Vanderglas is a 2013 graduate of Northern Kentucky and resides in Terre Haute.
