PHILADELPHIA – Bryan Radziewski, a former MLB draftee and All-American pitcher with the Miami Hurricanes, has been named an assistant coach for the La Salle University baseball team, head coach David Miller announced on Friday. Radziewski will serve as the team’s pitching coach.
“We are very excited about the addition of Bryan,” said Miller. “He comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and a strong background in pitcher development and recruiting. Not only as a standout All-American at the University of Miami, but also as a pro within the Astros organization. We look forward to seeing a huge improvement in our pitching staff this year.”
Radziewski comes to La Salle after spending the 2018-19 season as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. In the one season with Radziewski on the staff, the Knights increased their conference win total by eight games.
“I can’t thank Coach Miller enough for this opportunity,” expressed Radziewski. “I believe in what he is building here and his vision for the program to compete for national relevance and championships. I am very eager to get to work with the pitching staff and help the program continue to head in the right direction.”
Prior to Fairleigh Dickinson, Radziewski had a stellar collegiate career at the University of Miami (Fla.) and spent three years in the Houston Astros organization as a left-handed pitcher.
At Miami, Radziewski accumulated multiple All-America accolades as well as First Team All-Region and twice collected All-ACC honors. A starter on the mound, he put forth a 28-7 record with a 2.63 career ERA while piling up 333 strikeouts from 2011-2014.
Radziewski was originally selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft after a dominant redshirt sophomore season in which he went 9-3 with a 1.78 ERA and 109 strikeouts. After deciding to return to Miami for his redshirt junior season, the lefty went 8-2 with a 2.86 ERA and 111 strikeouts. In 2014, Radziewski was chosen by the Houston Astros in the ninth round of the MLB Draft.
During his time in the minors, Radziewski played in the New York Penn League, the Midwest League and the California League, most recently playing for the Lancaster JetHawks. He appeared in 38 games in the minors, including 18 starts, tallying a 3.39 ERA and 126 strikeouts over 132.2 innings pitched.
Radziewski earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in sports management from the University of Miami in 2016.
