ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University Director of Athletics Steve Waterfield has announced changes to the baseball program coaching staff. Co-head coach Jacke Healey has resigned from his position and co-head coach Colin Kaline will assume head coaching duties.

“I appreciate Jacke’s contributions to the baseball program and Oakland University and wish him well as he pursues his professional goals,” said Waterfield. “Colin will be the sole head baseball coach and will soon start the search process to complete his coaching staff. I know Colin is excited for this opportunity and I look forward to working with him and the assistant coaches to elevate the baseball program.”

Kaline joined the Golden Grizzlies in July 2016 assuming the primary responsibility of managing the pitching staff after serving as an assistant coach at Florida Southern. During his first season in 2017, Kaline helped guide Oakland to a 11-19 record in Horizon League play during the regular season and 2-2 record in the Horizon League Tournament marking the second time in the Division I era the Golden Grizzlies won multiple conference tournament games since 2000 as members of the Summit League.

“I am thrilled to be able to continue working with the wonderful group of student-athletes we have within our baseball program here at Oakland University,” said Kaline. “We have some of the most resilient athletes you will ever come across and being able to add a very talented recruiting class to them is extremely exciting.”

During his tenure over the past three seasons, 13 student-athletes have earned Horizon League All-Academic Team honors along with two All-Horizon League First Team, four Second Team and four All-Freshman Team selections. Additionally, Zach Sterry (2017) and Jake Lee (2018) were selected in the MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Angels respectively.
