Shea Langeliers was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jay sin the 34th round of the 2016 MLB Draft, but stuck with his commitment to Baylor.
In 2017 as a freshman he hit .313 in 211 at-bats with 43 runs scored, 14 doubles, 10 home runs, 38 RBI, and a .388 on-base percentage.
He spent that summer in the Cape Cod League hitting .234 in 128 at-bats with 15 runs scored, 8 doubles, 6 home runs, 21 RBI, and a .324 on-base percentage.
As a sophomore his averaged dropped a good bit to .252, but he scored 49 runs, had 18 doubles, 11 home runs, 44 RBI, and a .351 on-base percentage.
Langeliers spent this past summer with the US Collegiate National team.
The right-handed catcher/first baseman brings a lot of thump to the plate, which should only get better as he adds more muscle.
I liked to see him jump that average back up a good bit, but he’ll be one of the best power hitters in the upcoming draft. But his ultimate value may depend on whether or not a team thinks he can stick behind the plate.
