He may have put up the numbers his first two seasons, but there is a reason the Pittsburgh Pirates took Nick Lodolo in the first round of the 2016 MLB Draft.
As a freshman at TCU he posted a 4.35 ERA in 78.2 innings pitched with 72 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.32.
He started 15 games again in 2018 and slightly improved on his ERA at 4.32 in 77 innings pitched with a WHIP of 1.40.
The biggest improvement came with the strikeouts as he punched out 93 batters in those 77 showing, showing scouts he has that swing-and-miss stuff.
With a tall, 6-foot-5 frame Lodolo has everything a scout is looking for in a left-handed pitcher.
This will be a big year for Lodolo to see if he can finally make the numbers match the stuff.
