I feel like I say this about a lot of players, but Logan Davidson really is my favorite player in all of college baseball right now.
The 6-foot-3 shortstop has all of the tools to be a superstar at the next level, and has had two superb seasons at Clemson after turning down 30th round money from the Philadelphia Phillies.
As a freshman in 2017 he hit .286 with 56 runs scored, 9 doubles, 12 home runs, 41 RBI, 10 stolen bases, and a .388 on-base percentage.
That summer he hit .210 in 124 at-bats in the Cape Cod League with 19 runs scored, 4 doubles, 1 home run, 8 RBI, and a .317 on-base percentage.
He got off to a bit of a slow start in 2018 with Clemson, but wound up hitting .292 with 60 runs scored, 18 doubles, 15 home runs, 46 RBI, 10 stolen bases, and a .408 on-base percentage.
Davidson went back to the Cape and had another poor showing hitting just .194 in 139 at-bats with 19 runs scored, 4 doubles, 2 home runs, 11 RBI, and a .292 on-base percentage.
I don’t know why he’s struggled so much in the summer, but it’s not like he’s putting up those big numbers in the spring against scrubs playing in the ACC.
He should have another big spring for Clemson as he sets himself up to be a first round pick in June.
