Left-handed pitcher Adam Laskey was drafted in the 31st round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants, but kept his commitment to Duke.
As a freshman for the Blue Devils in 2017 he posted a 6.83 ERA in 55 innings pitched with 48 strikeouts and a 1.92 WHIP.
Things weren’t much better as a sophomore with a 5.47 ERA in 75.2 innings pitched with 61 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.55.
What really has elevated his draft stock after two subpar seasons at Duke is a great summer in the Cape Cod League.
There he posted a 1.19 ERA in 30.1 innings pitched with 26 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.00, showing scouts what made him such a highly recruited prospect out of high school.
I look for Laskey to have a huge year as a junior for Duke.
