This will be a huge year for North Carolina’s Tyler Baum after taking a step back in his sophomore season.
As a freshman he was dominating with a 2.57 ERA in 63 innings pitched with 47 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.17.
That summer he posted a 2.72 ERA in 43 innings pitched with 41 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.07 in the Cape Cod League.
He struggled a bit in his sophomore season with North Carolina posting a 4.57 ERA in 65 innings pitched with 74 strikeouts and a 1.38 ERA.
He went back to the Cape this past summer and had a good showing with a 0.75 ERA in 12 innings pitched with 12 strikeouts and a 1.25 WHIP.
This obviously a right-handed pitcher who has all the intangibles, but he could use a big junior season.
