After being drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 36th round of the 2016 MLB Draft, Drew Mendoza began his collegiate career in Tallahassee.
As a freshman in 2017 he hit .270 over 148 at-bats with 33 runs scored, 9 doubles, 10 home runs, 33 RBI, and a .400 on-base percentage.
He really struggled in the Cape that summer hitting .171 over 82 at-bats with 1 home run and 8 RBI.
The rangy third baseman got back on track as a sophomore hitting .313 over 224 at-bats with 44 runs scored, 17 doubles, 7 home runs, 44 RBI, and a .440 on-base percentage.
He went back to the Cape this past summer and did a little better hitting .232 over 69 at-bats with 2 home runs and 12 RBI.
A left-handed hitter, I look for Mendoza to really have a breakout year as a junior for the Seminoles.
