A 32 round draft pick by the Boston Red Sox back in 2016, St. John’s left-handed pitcher Jeff Belge turned himself into a top prospect with a solid showing in 2018.
As a freshman in 2017 he posted a 5.36 ERA in 48.2 innings pitched with 47 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.58.
That summer he posted a 4.05 ERA in 26.2 innings pitched in the Cape Cod League with 24 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.49.
This past spring he greatly improved those numbers with a 2.83 ERA in 66.2 innings pitched (9 starts) with 79 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.21.

He went back to the Cape this past summer and had much better numbers with a 3.53 ERA in 35.2 innings pitched with 46 strikeouts and a 1.39 WHIP.
The tall lefty just keeps getting better at the collegiate level, and another impressive season as a junior will turn him into a highly regarded MLB prospect.
