Another left-handed pitcher on this list that is a bit unknown because of where he plays, Ken Waldichuk has been great through two seasons for St. Mary’s.
As a freshman in 2017 he posted a 2.00 ERA in 45 innings pitched with 51 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.18.
That summer he had a 3.42 ERA in the Cal Ripkin League over 23.2 innings pitched with 24 strikeouts and a 1.25 WHIP.
He became a starter for St. Mary’s as a sophomore and posted a 2.05 ERA over 92 innings pitched with 118 strikeouts and a WHIP of 0.96.
Waldichuk went to the Cape Cod League this past summer and had a 4.91 ERA in 18.1 innings pitched with 20 strikeouts and a 1.38 WHIP. The high ERA was mostly due to giving up six runs in one of his outings, but he was superb in his other outings.
The uneven numbers in the summer against better competition are a bit concerning, but you can’t look past those strikeout totals.
