LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State head baseball coach Brian Green unveiled a competitive 2019 slate for the Aggies on Wednesday. The schedule for the 2019 season features 55 regular-season games with nine contests against Power 5 opponents and three teams that joined the Crimson & White in the 2018 NCAA Regionals.

The New Mexico State baseball squad is coming off of a historic season in 2018 that saw the team finish 40-22 with a 17-7 mark in Western Athletic Conference play. The Aggies won their first ever WAC Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2012.

Entering 2019, the Aggies high-powered offense opens its season inside the friendly confines of Presley Askew Field for a four-game weekend series with 2018 Southwestern Athletic Conference Champion, Texas Southern, Feb. 15-17. The only meeting between the Aggies and Tigers saw NM State walk away with a four-game sweep at home back in 1986.

The Aggie squad remains at home for its next weekend series as the team welcomes the Ivy League’s Yale Bulldogs for a four-game clash from Feb. 22-24. NM State walked away with a 3-1 series win over the Bulldogs back in 2017. Overall, the Aggies are 6-2 against the Ivy League during the Brian Green era with a 3-1 series win over Harvard last season.

NM State then hits the road for its first of two contests against Big 12 challenger Texas Tech for a midweek contest on Tuesday, Feb. 26, in Lubbock, Texas. Last season, the Red Raiders took down the Aggies, 9-2, in the first round of the NCAA Regionals before advancing all the way to the College World Series.

Following the midweek clash, the Crimson & White return to Presley Askew to open the month of March with a four-game weekend series against Delaware, March 1-3. This is set to be the first-ever matchup between the Aggies and the Blue Hens.

The next series has NM State remaining in the City of Crosses to play host to La Salle for a four-game series with LaSalle from March 8-10. The Aggies are undefeated at 8-0 against the Explorers with the last clash coming in 2013.

NM State follows up the home stand with a five-game road stretch against tough Power 5 competition. The first game is a midweek contest against Pac-12 opponent Arizona State on March 13. The Aggies recorded their first road win over the Sun Devils in program history last season in an 8-7 decision at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.

Green and the Aggies then make a trip to Lincoln, Neb. for a weekend series against Big Ten foe Nebraska from March 15-17. The Aggies trail in the all-time series with the Cornhuskers, 5-3, and the team’s last squared off in 2012.

To close out the road stretch, New Mexico State heads back to the Grand Canyon State to take on the Arizona Wildcats on March 19. The Aggies first contest with the Wildcats in 2018 saw the team drop a narrow contest, 5-4.

The Aggies then return home to open up Western Athletic Conference play with a three-game weekend series against CSU Bakersfield, March 22-24. The Aggies swept the Roadrunners last season and took them down in their first-round matchup of the WAC Tournament, 4-0.

Back into the midweek contests, NM State welcomes Battle of I-25 rival New Mexico to Presley Askew Field for a showdown on March 26 for the first of two regular season matchups. In 2018, the Crimson & White recorded its first-ever three-game sweep of the Lobos, adding to a pair of two-game sweeps in 2011 and 1995.

NM State follows that up with a trip to the Windy City for a weekend series against WAC foe Chicago State to close out the month from March 29-31. The Aggies have won nine-straight games over the Cougars heading into this season with three-straight series sweeps.

The Aggies enter April with a return to campus to take on WAC challenger Grand Canyon, April 5-7. The weekend series pits the Aggies against the Lopes who have finished with the best regular-season record in the WAC the past two seasons.

Play for NM State continues to be challenging moving forward as the team has its second game against Texas Tech, this time at a neutral site in Midland, Texas, on April 9. The Aggies head back home from Midland for a weekend series against WAC opponent Northern Colorado, April 12-14.

Another Battle of I-25 opens the next week with the Crimson & White traveling up to Albuquerque, N.M. to close out the regular season series against UNM on April 16. Remaining on the road, the Aggies take a trip to Orem, Utah for a three-game series with conference challenger Utah Valley, April 18-20.

On April 23, Division III opponent Sul Ross State makes a trip to the City of Crosses for a midweek matchup. NM State then gets set to head west for a challenging series with WAC Tournament runner-up Sacramento State, April 26-28, in Sacramento, Calif.

To close out the month of April, the Aggies have their final regular season clash with Arizona on April 30 in Tucson. Moving into May, the Crimson & White open at home in a weekend series, May 3-5, with WAC foe UT Rio Grande Valley.

The final regular season road trip of the year features NM State traveling up to Seattle, Wash., first for a conference series versus Seattle U, May 10-12. The team then remains in Seattle for a weekday contest against a member of the 2018 College World Series in Washington on May 13.

NM State returns home to close out the 2018 regular season with a weekend tilt against WAC newcomer Cal Baptist, May 16-18, at Presley Askew Field.

The Aggies then look to defend their Western Athletic Conference crown in the WAC Tournament, May 22-26, at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Ariz., to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
