UNC Wilmington shortstop Greg Jones was taken in the 17th round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles, but turned that down for the college ranks.
As a freshman this past spring he hit .278 in 227 at-bats with 45 runs scored, 4 home runs, 21 RBI, 16 stolen bases, and a .412 on-base percentage.
He registered 116 at-bats in the Cape Cod League this past summer and hit .259 with 23 runs scored, 3 home runs, 9 RBI, 20 stolen bases, and a .374 on-base percentage.
The switch-hitting shortstop has all the tools with a very projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds.
After getting his feet wet as a freshman last year, I’m expecting big things from Greg Jones as a sophomore in 2019.
