Alec Burleson is one of the best two-way players in college baseball entering the 2019 season.
The East Carolina product hit .252 as a freshman this past spring over 103 at-bats with 13 runs scored, 18 RBI, and a .325 on-base percentage.
His numbers on the mound were a little more impressive with a 3.33 ERA in 54 innings pitched with 49 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.22.
This past summer he dominated at the plate and on the mound in the Cal Ripkin League.
He hit .383 with a .444 on-base percentage over 107 at-bats with 22 runs scored, 10 home runs, and 44 RBI.
The left-handed pitcher had a 0.34 ERA over 26.1 innings pitched with 23 strikeouts and a WHIP of 0.63.
Those are some eye-popping numbers. We’ll see if Burleson can keep up those power numbers as a hitter in 2019. If he can, we could be looking at the next Brendan McKay.
