FROM COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWS PRESS RELEASE

TUCSON, Ariz. — The 2019 Collegiate Baseball Pre-Season All-Americans, powered by Diamond Sports, feature a remarkable mix of talented NCAA Division I baseball players across the USA.

The first team All-Americans include five starting pitchers who struck out over 100 batters each last season. RHP Kyle Brnovich of Elon led all first teamers with 147 strikeouts.

C Adley Rutschman of Oregon St. is the projected National Player of The Year. He hit .408 with 22 doubles, 9 homers and 83 RBI last season for the Beavers. He caught 67 of 68 games and only allowed 17 stolen bases in 36 attempts. He is the favorite at this point to be the first pick in the 2019 MLB Draft.

The first team closer is Jack Little of Stanford who posted 16 saves with a 0.60 ERA. He struck out 58 batters over 45 1/3 innings and only walked 8.

On offense, 1B Spencer Torkelson of Arizona St. hit 25 homers to lead first team All-Americans and was closely followed by 1B Andrew Vaughn of California with 23. Vaughn had a remarkable season in 2018 as he hit .402 with 23 homers, 14 doubles, 63 RBI and only struck out 18 times in 54 games.

Defending national champion Oregon St. leads all schools with four pre-season All-Americans.
