Bryant baseball always seems to find great talent, and Ryan Ward is just the next one in line on that list.
Before stepping foot on campus he hit .375 over 112 at-bats in the Futures League. And then after playing in just 10 games as a freshman — hitting .238 with 2 home runs — he suffered a season-ending injury.
He came back this past spring for Bryant and lit it up by hitting .409 over 247 at-bats with 51 runs scored, 22 doubles, 8 home runs, 52 RBI, 9 stolen bases, and a .449 on-base percentage.
He was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year, and was the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Co-National Freshman Player of the Year.
This past summer he hit .306 in the New England Collegiate League over 170 at-bats with 32 runs scored, 7 double, 5 home runs, 31 RBI, 13 stolen bases, and a .389 on-base percentage.
The 5-foot-11, 190 pound Ward is listed as an OF/C, but he can play just about anywhere on the Diamond. He gives you a little bit of everything with the extra base hits and stolen bases.
It will be interesting to see what scouts do with him if he puts up another monster year with Bryant.
