A 6-foot-4 switch hitter from UCLA, Michael Toglia had a monster sophomore campaign with for the Bruins in 2018, putting him on the prospect map.
In 2016 he hit .306 in the West Coast League over 170 at-bats with 7 home runs and 40 RBI.
As a freshman in 2017 he hit just .261 for UCLA over 176 at-bats with 33 runs scored, 11 doubles, 8 home runs, 33 RBI, and a .382 on-base percentage.
That summer he hit .240 in the Cape Cod League in 121 at-bats with 18 runs scored, 6 doubles, 6 home runs, 25 RBI, and a .301 on-base percentage.
In 2018 Toglia hit .336 for UCLA in 226 at-bast with 51 runs scored, 24 doubles, 11 home runs, 58 RBI, and a .449 on-base percentage.
He went back to the Cape this past summer and saw mixed results again hitting just .209 in 134 at-bats with 25 runs scored, 7 home runs, 23 RBI, and a .323 on-base percentage.
The power is certainly there for Toglia, but his average numbers in the Cape are a bit worrisome. Hopefully he can have another big year for UCLA to put any doubts to rest.
