Listed as a pitcher and first baseman, Alek Monoah has made his mark as a right-handed pitcher for West Virginia over two seasons.
As a freshman in 2017 he posted a 3.07 ERA over 55.2 innings pitched with 45 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.37.
This past spring he pitched in 23 games with an ERA of 4.00 over 54 innings with 60 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.50.
He also picked up a pair of saves in each of his first two seasons with West Virginia.
Manoah spent this past summer in the Cape Cod League with a 2.70 ERA over 33.1 innings (7 starts) with 48 strikeouts and a WHIP of 0.79.
Those numbers in the Cape caught the eyes of a lot scouts, and he enters his junior season with high expectations.
At 6-foot-6, 260 pounds he profiles as a durable middle of the order pitcher, but he has the stuff to be a shutdown reliever as well.
