PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University baseball team released its 2019 schedule on Thursday. The Explorers enter year two of the David Miller era and will host 28 home games at Hank DeVincent Field this spring.
La Salle will open the year in South Carolina for a three-game series against Charleston Southern Feb. 15-17. The following weekend, the Explorers will visit Furman for three games Feb. 22-24. The Explorers will welcome Albany to DeVincent Field for their first home series March 2-3, featuring a Saturday doubleheader for the home opener.
The Blue and Gold will then make the trip to New Mexico State for a four-game series March 8-10. After a brief return home to host Saint Peter’s March 12, the following day La Salle will visit Delaware State. The Explorers will take on Big 5 rival Villanova for three games March 15-17, with game two being played at DeVincent Field. La Salle will play at Delaware March 19, followed by a home contest against Fairleigh Dickinson the next day.
The Explorers will begin Atlantic 10 Conference play with a three-game series at Davidson March 22-24. La Salle will then host back-to-back home games against Rider (March 26 – Liberty Bell Classic) and Delaware State (March 27). Closing out the month of March, La Salle will visit A-10 opponent St. Bonaventure for three games March 29-31.
La Salle will continue the Liberty Bell Classic on April 2, playing either Delaware or Lehigh, before hosting eight straight home games. First up will be a three-game set with VCU April 5-7, followed by an April 10 meeting with Maryland Eastern Shore. The Explorers will host Quinnipiac for three games April 13-14 before hosting Big 5 counterpart Penn April 16. The Liberty Bell Championship will be played April 17 at Citizens Bank Park.
Big 5 and A-10 foe Saint Joseph’s will host La Salle April 18-20 for a three-game series before the Explorers host Saint Peter’s again April 23. The next day La Salle will visit Bucknell, followed by a three-game A-10 home set against Massachusetts April 26-28 to kick off another eight-game home stretch. UMBC (April 30) and LIU Brooklyn (May 1) will visit DeVincent Field before Dayton comes to town for three games May 3-5.
The Explorers will travel to Fordham for a three-game series May 10-12. La Salle will conclude the regular season at home with a three-game set against Rhode Island May 16-18. The 2019 Atlantic 10 Championship, hosted by Fordham, will take place May 22-25 in the Bronx.
