East Carolina has high hopes in 2019, and if they are going to reach their goals they’ll need left-handed pitcher Jake Agnos to have a big season.
As a freshman in 2017 he posted a 3.22 ERA in 64 innings pitched with 64 strikeouts and a 1.40 ERA, making 10 starts.
Things didn’t go well in Cape Cod that summer as he had a 6.17 ERA in 23.1 innings pitched with 31 strikeouts and a 1.82 WHIP.
In his sophomore season at East Carolina his ERA went up to 4.10 in 63.2 innings pitched (14 starts) with 86 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.55.
This past summer he made one start in the Cape throwing six perfect innings with 10 strikeouts. He spent the rest of the 2018 summer with the USA Collegiate National Team.
The 5-foot-11 lefty has a unique delivery where he sort of sidearms the ball. He features a low 90’s fastball to go along with a change-up and curveball.
Agnos needs a big year ERA-wise to feel better about his draft position after his junior year, but he has the tools to get the job done.
