Someone certain to fly up draft boards this spring is Seton Hall right-handed pitcher Ricky Devito.
His career got off to a blazing start as he didn’t allow a single earned run over 14.2 innings as a freshman with 20 strikeouts and a WHIP of 0.95.
That summer he received a wake-up call in the New England Collegiate League as he was touched up for a 5.59 ERA over 19.1 innings pitched with 25 strikeouts and WHIP of 1.41.
This past spring he was named the Big East Pitcher of the Year after posting a 1.88 ERA in 62 innings (12 starts) with 67 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.03.
He followed that up with a nice showing in the Cape Cod League where he had a 2.45 ERA in 29.1 innings pitched with 35 strikeouts and a 1.37 WHIP.
It was nice to see those strikeout numbers go up in the Cape. If he can continue that into his junior season it will be another huge year for Devito.
