Another player with tremendous power is Ole Miss outfielder Thomas Dillard who competed in last year’s Home Run Derby contest.
Much like Daschbach at 73, Dillard didn’t have a great freshman season hitting just .206 over 141 at-bats with 4 home runs.
That summer he played in the Cape Cod League and wasn’t much better there hitting .213 in 75 at-bats with 2 home runs.
But he finished his sophomore season hitting .310 in 229 at-bats with 13 home runs, 67 runs scored, 15 doubles, 59 RBI, and a .439 on-base percentage.
He went back to the Cape Cod League this past summer and saw his numbers improve there a bit hitting .250 over 104 at-bats with 3 home runs.
Anyone watching Major League Baseball these days knows it’s all about the long ball, and Dillard can deliver those in bunches.
