If you like big, powerful bats then Stanford’s Andrew Daschbach is one to watch in 2019.
The 6-foot-3, 215 pound corner infielder was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 40th round of the 2016 MLB Draft. He’s played third and first in his time at Stanfrod.
Things didn’t start out great for the big guy hitting just .183 as a freshman in 60 at-bats with zero home runs.
He played in the New England Collegiate League that summer and started to break out by hitting .321 over 134 at-bats with 8 home runs.
As a sophomore this past spring he hit .286 over 213 at-bast with 16 home runs, 41 runs scored, 61 RBI, and an on-base percentage of .358.
Those numbers were good enough for him to be named to the Pac-12 All-Conference Team.
This past summer he hit .306 in the Cape Cod League over 134 at-bats with 5 home runs and 27 RBI.
He will once again bolster the middle of the Stanford lineup as he looks to continue his power surge as a junior.
