TROY, Ala. – The 2019 Troy baseball schedule, which includes 31 home games and games in three different minor league stadiums, was released by Troy head coach Mark Smartt Monday.
Season tickets are now available at TroyTrojans.com/Tickets or by contacting the Troy Ticket Office at (334) 670-3681. Ticket packages include reserved, general admission and “Family 4 Pack” for every home game.
Following an NCAA Regional appearance of their own in 2018, the Trojans will kick off the campaign with a four-game series against Central Michigan at Riddle-Pace Field February 15-17.
Troy’s first road trip of the year will ensue shortly after, beginning with an exciting neutral site game against Southern Miss (Feb. 20) at MGM Park in Biloxi, Miss. It continues in Ruston, La., that weekend with a three-game series against Louisiana Tech (Feb. 22-24).
The Trojans will then remain in the state of Alabama for the next 14 games to begin March, highlighted by a marquee matchup against Tennessee at the Hoover Met on Mar. 5. The stretch includes home series against Southeastern Louisiana (Mar. 1-3) and North Alabama (Mar. 8-10) plus midweek battles with Jacksonville State (Feb. 27 home; Mar. 13 away), UAB (Mar. 12 at Regions Field) and Maine (Mar. 20).
Last year’s Sun Belt runner-up will begin its conference slate at Riddle-Pace Field against Arkansas State (Mar. 15-17) then head to defending league champs Coastal Carolina (Mar. 22-24). Troy then hosts Louisiana (Mar. 29-31) to close out the busy month.
Sandwiched amongst the league schedule are midweek tilts against in-state foes; Alabama (Apr. 2 away), UAB (Apr. 9 home), Alabama State (Apr. 10 home; Apr. 30 away) and Samford (Apr. 16 home; Apr. 24 away).
Troy has back-to-back weekend road trips to Texas State (Apr. 5-7) and Georgia State (Apr. 12-14) prior to returning home to face Appalachian State (Apr. 18-20) on Easter Weekend. The Trojans hit the road once more in April, as they travel to Arkansas to face Little Rock (Apr. 26-28).
When the final month of the regular season rolls around, Riddle-Pace will play host to seven straight games. Troy welcomes Georgia Southern (May 3-5), Alabama (May 8) and ULM (May 10-12) to end the home slate.
As always, the Trojans will close the regular season with a three-game series against rival South Alabama (May 16-18) in Mobile. The 2019 Sun Belt Conference Championship will be hosted by Coastal Carolina the succeeding week starting May 21 and concluding May 26.
Quotable – Troy Head Coach Mark Smartt
“Our goal each year is to present challenges and opportunities to our team and I am confident the 2019 schedule accomplishes both. The conference schedule is the key factor that will dictate our team’s success. The Sun Belt East Division is highly competitive and our five West division opponents in 2019 create a demanding 30-game conference season. The non-conference schedule has many familiar teams during the mid-week but we are pleased to host the University of Maine for the first time on March 20. We host North Alabama in their inaugural Division I season. Many old-timers like me recognize North Alabama from the Division II era as the rivalry renews for the first time since 1993. Playing Southern Miss in Biloxi, Tennessee in Hoover and UAB in Birmingham at three Double-A stadiums is an outstanding opportunity. Our week two road trip to Louisiana Tech is a great series that will prepare our team for the conference season. Finally, I believe we have an attractive 31-game home schedule with four of the first five series at Riddle-Pace Field. The season can’t get here soon enough!”
