Eastern Florida State gets a gift in the 6-foot-6 Carter Stewart after the talented right-handed pitcher failed to sign with the Atlanta Braves after being taken with the eighth overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft.

The Braves were apparently worried about some medicals they saw after drafting Stewart and gave him a low-ball offer hoping to spend some of that ‘extra’ money on later draft picks like LSU’s Zach Hess.

Instead, the two sides were unable to come to an agreement and we get at least one year of Stewart at the collegiate level.

Stewart had committed to Mississippi State, but instead will go the junior college route so that he can enter the MLB Draft again next year.

This youngster can top out at 98 MPH, while consistently hitting 92-94 on the radar gun with a tremendous curveball to go along with that heater.

While he may not spend much time in college, expectations are high for Stewart in 2019 as he tries to re-establish his draft stock.
