A very talk and lanky right-handed pitcher, Emerson Hancock was drafted in the 38th round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
That wasn’t enough to sway his commitment from Georiga where he had a solid freshman season for the resurgent Bulldogs.
His stats won’t jump out at you with just a 5.10 ERA in 77.2 innings pitched with 75 strikeouts and a 1.34 WHIP. But he started 15 games as a freshman for Georgia playing in the best baseball conference in the country.
Emerson is here more as a potential breakout candidate because I believe he has the ability to become one of the best pitchers in the country.
I had the chance to watch him person this past season and he was very impressive over seven innings against Alabama, allowing just two hits. Even though he did issue four walks in that game, but he had the presence of an established pitcher.
Georgia should expect to see Hancock take a big step forward as a sophomore in 2019.
