NC State catcher Patrick Bailey was taken in the 37th round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins.
Instead, he kept his commitment to the Wolfpack and wound up being named the ACC Freshman of the Year.
He hit .321 in 187 at-bats with 45 runs scored, 13 home runs, 40 RBI, and a .419 on-base percentage.
This summer he split time between the Cape Cod League and the USA Collegiate National Team.
He enters the 2019 season as one of the top hitting catchers in the country. Bailey is 6-foot, 175 pounds and is a switch-hitter.
If he builds off of his freshman season and follows that up with a big sophomore year, he’ll be one of the top players in the country entering the 2020 season.
